30 New BusesFrom the first release of Prop 1B Transit Capital funds, the STA successfully secured $944,083 to purchase 30 new buses. The Prop 1B funds will be used as a local match for federal grants and TDA funds secured by local transit operators.

    purchase 5 buses
  • Vacaville City Coach was awarded $240,000 to purchase 5 buses
  • Vallejo Transit was awarded $304,083 to purchase 20 buses

The vehicles will be purchased during the next few years. STA will pursue additional Prop 1B Transit Capital funding when it is released in the future.

Transit Ridership Survey

Transit Ridership SurveyThe STA completed a Transit ridership Study for all local Solano bus and intercity routes in March 2007. This was a joint effort with Solano transit operators: Benicia Breeze, Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST), Rio Vista Delta Breeze, Vacaville City Coach, and Vallejo Transit/Baylink Ferry. The study included an on-board passenger survey as well as counts of boardings and alightings.

The survey data was collected in October and November 2006. This was the first comprehensive transit ridership survey and count to occur on all Solano transit operations simultaneously. The resulting data assisted with transit planning and financing by the transit operators and the STA.
