Solano Commute Challenge
The first annual Solano Commute Challenge is finished and the results are in!
The Solano Commute Challenge was a targeted outreach campaign for Solano County employers that involved the local business community in addition to employers and employees. 27 major employers totaling 296 employees participated countywide.
134 participants earned the title “Commute Champion” by using transit, carpool, vanpool, bike, or walking to work at least 30 times from July to October and received a $50 Commute Buck reward. An additional 36 were dubbed “Commute Contenders” for attempting to meet the goal and earned $25 Commute Buck rewards.

STA/SNCI Recognizes Solano Commute Challenge City Leaders
Genentech, Vacaville
Genentech Vacaville Campus earned the designation “Most Outstanding Workplace” for being the employer with the greatest number of Commute Champions. Their recognition, which includes a catered lunch for all Genentech participants, will take place in March 2008.
Goodrich, Fairfield
Solano Commute Challenge participants at Goodrich in Fairfield were recognized on January 14, 2008, by Fairfield Mayor and Solano Transportation Authority Board Member Harry Price, Solano County Supervisors Jim Spering and Mike Reagan, and Fairfield/Suisun City Chamber of Commerce Vice-president Mark Creffield. Recognition certificates were presented to Coral-Lynn Davila (the on-site Commute Challenge Coordinator), and Mary Maxwell and James Matteson (Goodrich’s Most Outstanding Commuters) who carpooled together. Goodrich was the leading employer in the city of Fairfield and earned the title of “Commute Champion Workplace” for having more than 20 employees who were Commute Champions.
California Vegetable Specialities, Rio Vista

California Vegetable Specialties (CVS) in Rio Vista earned the title of “Workplace Commute Contender” and was the leading employer in the city of Rio Vista. CVS participants were recognized on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, by Rio Vista Mayor and Solano Transportation Authority Chair Eddie Woodruff and Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce President Linda Lannon. Cristina Parks received recognition certificates as the on-site Commute Challenge Coordinator and CVS’ Most Outstanding Commuter.
Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Vallejo
Participants at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo were recognized on November 29, 2007, by Vallejo Mayor and Solano Transportation Authority 2007 Chair Tony Intintoli and Vallejo Chamber of Commerce President Rick Wells. Kaiser Permanente Medical Center was the leading employer in the city of Vallejo and earned the title of “Workplace Commute Contender.” Recognition certificates were presented to Joe Eisenbrandt (the on-site Commute Challenge Coordinator), and Lory Fritz (KP’s Most Outstanding Commuter).
