The STA and Caltrans are working on the Project Approval / Environmental Document (PA/ED) phase of the project, expected to be completed in the Spring of 2008. Recent work on the interchange includes auxiliary lanes built between I-680 and SR 12. Design and construction of the interchange will be conducted in phases between 2007 and 2030.
The STA, in partnership with Caltrans and FHWA, has developed and considered a wide variety of alternatives for the Project. At the meeting on March 14, 2007, the STA Board approved the public release of two alternatives that are recommended to be carried forward into the Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS), and to schedule a Public Information/Open House in April 2007 to receive public input.
A Public Informational Open House was held 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Rodriguez High School Multipurpose Room at 5000 Red Top Road in Fairfield.
On March 14, 2007, the STA Board recommended Alternatives B & C for further study in the Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (EIS/EIR). These alternatives were then presented at a public Open House on April 25, 2007. In the coming months as part of the EIS/EIR process, these alternatives will be studied in more detail to more accurately define the potential impacts to the environment. The alternatives are subject to refinement as environmental studies proceed. Any and all refinements to the alternatives will be presented to the public and explained in the EIS/EIR. Lastly, the Draft EIS/EIR will be circulated for public review and comment, currently anticipated to be August 2008.
